Basset

I found myself deeply inspired by the inherent charm and distinctive features of the Basset Hound. My intention was to capture more than just the physical traits of this lovable breed; I wanted to evoke the emotional connection we share with our furry companions. With his eyes turned upwards, as if begging for a morsel of affection (or perhaps a treat), I aimed to embody the spirit and heart of the Basset Hound through my brush strokes.

I embraced a style that nods to the cubist movement, using simplified strokes of color to depict the intricate folds of his skin—a defining characteristic of the breed. This choice was deliberate, allowing me to express the depth and texture of his lovable, floppy ears and skin in a way that feels almost abstract, yet deeply connected to the essence of my subject.

I consciously chose to minimize the detail in his paws, focusing instead on the expression of his entire body. This, to me, was crucial in conveying the full emotional impact of his posture and gaze.
