4 - acrylic on 6 x 6 cradle board panels
In this multi-paneled expression, I aim to confront the societal misconceptions surrounding Pit Bulls and to shine a spotlight on their hidden charms that render them wonderfully adoptable.
The essence of my painting is to depict love, companionship, and the intrinsic softness of the breed, qualities often overlooked due to the shadows of misunderstanding and fear that surround them. Each panel, lovingly crafted and bursting with color, represents a different perspective of these powerful yet deeply compassionate creatures, embodying their multifaceted character.
My choice of gestural abstract colors and shapes is no accident. The playfulness of the shapes and the warmth of the colors I chose intentionally exudes an air of joy and contentment, qualities I believe reside at the heart of each Pit Bull. Their true natures, hidden beneath the surface of prejudice, are given a voice through these colors and forms, speaking a language of love, happiness, and boundless loyalty.
Contrasting hues within the four panels represent the duality of the Pit Bull's reputation, while at the same time shattering these negative perceptions. I aim to spotlight their unique personalities shaped not by their breed, but by the environments and upbringing they experience.
This art piece does not just present an image, it presents a dialogue, a conversation we need to have about these misunderstood companions. It is a reflection of how our perceptions and attitudes can shape the narrative around a breed that simply yearns for love and loyalty.
